Have your radio station hold an event, throw a party, start a club or organize a roundtable. At events, make networking part of the fun. Be the station that gets things done, moving and memorable. There’s nothing like personal connection, which is why hitting the streets is so vital. Find ways to stay in people’s faces. If you create some sense of organization, you can mobilize your listeners into action. Hook your call letters into an existing event. Start simple. Get permission to have your station van parked at the entrance of a local ball park. Hand out those popular and important first impression makers: Bumper stickers! Develop an entire line of logo items: caps, tee-shirts, sweats, polo shirts, car window visors, jackets, handbags, wallets, pens, etc. Find out if there’s a need for an emcee for an event and offer the professional services of a popular on-air personality. This may be something organizers failed to include.
